IG Hotmelt Butyl is a hot applied sealant formulated for single seal insulating glass. This product has been designed for insulating glass manufacturers running hand applied, semi-automated, and linear extruded operations. Based upon proprietary high-strength technology, IG Hotmelt Butyl offers substantial performance advantages including:
Unlike other hot melt sealants, the high-strength technology develops immediate strength upon cool-down. IG Hotmelt Butyl sealed window has sufficient strength at the end-of-line to withstand more than 4 times the shear stress associated with an unsupported residential lite, even at elevated temperatures up to 140º F. This industry leading performance translates to a substantial reduction in risk of window damage during handling and transportation. IG Hotmelt Butyl has been formulated to maintain its flexibility below temperature of -25º F. It offers excellent resistance to the day-to-day temperature cycling a typical window experiences. IG Hotmelt Butyl has low argon permeability and
exceptional moisture vapor transmission rates. The product has been formulated to exceed ASTM E2188, E2189, E2190 (HIGS) specifications.
